Welcome to Cottage Point Kiosk & Boat Hire
Built around 1918, the Kiosk is one of the oldest riverside cottages in Cottage Point. Over the years it has been home to many different families, services, business owners and menus, however one thing has always stayed true – it’s an iconic, nostalgic place for locals and visitors to meet, eat, drink and relax.
Overlooking beautiful Cowan River and the untouched Kuring-gai Chase National Park, the Kiosk is the perfect place to sit and enjoy breakfast or lunch, or to launch your day of adventure and exploration on one our hire boats or kayaks.

2021 Winner of Best Water Access Breakfast in Sydney! We are river residents from Dangar Island. Since the start of COVID last year we have ventured out every Sunday morning in search of the best Sunday breakfast we can reach by boat in the Hawkesbury/Pittwater area. From Church Point to Berowra Waters, Bobbin Head, Kangaroo Point, Newport, Palm Beach, Brooklyn, Patonga and even our own Dangar Island, we rated the breakfasts on these criteria:
(1) Ease of access/ berthing
(2) Outlook/views
(3) Service
(4) Quality of food
Firstly, the ease of access. The kiosk hires out tinnies and kayaks, and these take up the majority of space on the smallish jetty/pontoon. If you turn up early it's not really a problem, but after 9ish it can get difficult to find a spot without rafting up alongside another boat. The majority of water access visitors seem to be on inflatable tenders from moored/anchored larger boats and they are accommodated easily. Our boat is just under 5 metres and in the half a dozen visits we've had there's barely been room for us. On the positive side, the hire boat guys are really helpful in sorting a berth, though we've often had to change spots during our breakfast, to allow hire boats in loading up. A slight hassle, but we've rated ease of access at 7/10.
The outlook is great. We've always been able to get a table by the water. You can also choose to sit on the upstairs deck, but that doesn't suit parties of over 4. The view is of the entrance to Coal & Candle Creek, with an array of moored boats in the foreground. Plenty to look at, with boats coming and going from the adjacent yacht club too. We rated the outlook at 8/10
The service is outstanding. From the hire boat staff, to the waiters and kitchen staff, they are all eager to please and attentive. Both drinks and food are served quickly and any special requests are handled without any fuss. You can't ask any more than that We rated the service as 9/10.
And lastly, the actual breakfast. We've sampled lots of hit and miss - 342pamelar
My favourite lunch spot! My favourite lunch spot and has been for years. Quiet and secluded kiosk with the best fish curry. Only disappointment is that the most delicious garlic mussels have been taken off the menu, the chilli mussels are definitely not as yummy. Great day out especially if you are able to catch the ferry from Patonga.

What a brilliant outing My son and I regularly hire a boat here for an outing on The Hawkesbury, whether to fish explore or just chill out. We are always exceptionally well looked after and how can you possibly beat The Hawkesbury. This place is a world class gem! Well done to the new owners.

Barra Curry a hidden gem in a hidden gem! The barramundi curry is (hands down) the best dish north of the Harbour Bridge. Seems madness buying a fish curry at a boathouse but you will not regret it. My partner and I are frequenters, every time getting a curry and a bowl of chips to share.
They sell beer, wine and water in a beautiful (well off the beaten track) setting.
